Neymar Injury Scare Puts Brazil on Edge Ahead of World Cup 2026
Brazil are anxiously awaiting the results of medical tests on Neymar after the superstar arrived at the national team’s training camp with a lingering calf injury ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
The Brazilian icon joined the rest of the squad at the Granja Comary training center near Rio de Janeiro as preparations officially began for the tournament. However, concerns quickly resurfaced over Neymar’s physical condition after he recently missed several matches with Santos FC due to a calf problem.
Brazil’s football federation confirmed that most of the squad had already reported for duty, while a few players remained in Europe because of the UEFA Champions League final between Paris Saint-Germain and Arsenal F.C. in Budapest.
The 34-year-old forward has not represented Brazil since suffering a serious knee injury back in October 2023. Despite returning to action at club level, his fitness remains uncertain, raising doubts about whether he will feature in Brazil’s farewell friendly against Panama at the legendary Maracanã Stadium this Sunday.
Under new head coach Carlo Ancelotti, Brazil are hoping to end a 24-year wait for another World Cup title and secure a historic sixth crown in the United States next month.
The Seleção will also face Egypt in Cleveland before opening their World Cup campaign against Morocco national football team on June 11. Brazil will later take on Haiti and Scotland in Group C.
With millions of fans watching closely, Neymar’s medical results could play a crucial role in determining Brazil’s chances of lifting the trophy once again.
