José Mourinho could be heading back to Real Madrid as the Spanish giants prepare for major internal changes ahead of next season. According to reports from Spanish radio station Cadena SER, the Portuguese manager is willing to take charge of the club only under one important condition: full control over the project.
The report claims Mourinho wants complete authority inside the dressing room, including the power to decide which players fit his vision and which ones do not. Any player unwilling to fully commit to his methods and discipline could reportedly be excluded from the squad.
One of the biggest concerns mentioned in the report involves French superstar Kylian Mbappé. Mourinho is said to be unhappy with the player’s recent behavior and attitude during the final weeks of the season.
Mbappé has recently found himself at the center of controversy after being benched by Real Madrid coach Álvaro Arbeloa during the La Liga clash against Real Oviedo. The French forward has also faced criticism from sections of the club’s supporters due to his repeated trips abroad during a crucial period of the campaign.
Despite the growing tension around Mbappé, Real Madrid’s board reportedly believes Mourinho’s experience, strong personality, and leadership could be exactly what the club needs to rebuild and restore stability after a difficult season.
If Mourinho’s return becomes official, it could mark the beginning of a completely new era at the Santiago Bernabéu — one built on discipline, authority, and major decisions involving even the club’s biggest stars.
