Lamine Yamal believes he deserves to win the 2026 Ballon d’Or, arguing that his achievements with Barcelona and Spain give him an edge over Kylian Mbappé.

Yamal helped Barcelona retain the La Liga title and played a key role in Spain’s World Cup triumph. Meanwhile, Mbappé finished as the top scorer at the World Cup, La Liga and Champions League, but failed to win a major trophy.

Yamal said he considers himself and Mbappé the two best players in the world, while insisting that his trophies and performances make him worthy of the award.

Yamal finished second in last year’s Ballon d’Or voting, behind Ousmane Dembélé. The 2026 Ballon d’Or ceremony is scheduled for October 26 in London.
