In a surprising development ahead of the upcoming Real Madrid presidential elections, candidate Enrique Rikleme has revealed his ambitious plan to appoint German coach Jürgen Klopp as the club’s new head coach—should he secure victory.
Rikleme, who is competing against the long-serving president Florentino Pérez, outlined his vision during a recent television interview. He confirmed that Real Madrid legend Raúl González, expected to take on a sporting director role, would immediately initiate contact with Klopp following the election.
“If the members place their trust in me, Raúl will reach out to Klopp the very next day to make him our new manager,” Rikleme stated.
Klopp, who stepped away from coaching after leaving Liverpool in the summer of 2024, has previously indicated that he does not intend to return to management in the near future. However, Rikleme believes that the unique challenge and prestige of leading Real Madrid could change the German’s stance.

Klopp has been out of management since 2024, following a highly successful tenure at Liverpool, where he established himself as one of the world’s elite coaches.
